Personal Productivity
Personal Productivity usually means something different to everyone. To some it just means staying organized at work. But it can be so much more than that with some time and a PC. I know I’m not breaking new ground here, but there have been a lot of new easy to use tools, for the computer savvy, and the paper based organization. I personally am a hybrid of both. At one end I am lost without Outlook and my Windows Mobile 6.1 Smartphone, but the paper and pen aspect always come in handy also. My feeling is that you should use as many, or as few, tools you need to get things done, that said, it depends a lot on your schedule and how much you have to get done by when. Ever since I started getting organized, I found out about what I wanted, and that I was not working towards those goals, I suppose that’s where the obsession began.
Just recently I got an RSS feed with a link to http://davidseah.com/. This renewed my faith in using paper based tools with the Printable CEO Series. This man is a genius to have adopted so many needed solutions to those who only feel comfortable with paper, or use both systems, like myself. I can think of about 20 people who could benefit from these tools right now. Five minutes on the site, and I am sure you will agree.
If the whole PPM, Project Management, PMI, Organizational tools idea is new to you, it does NOT mean just buying the latest copy of Microsoft Office Project, while not a bad idea, that’s only a small fraction of the concept. You will need to commit time and effort to make it really pay off, and it does, trust me.
